Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026
Narraloud is a reading app made by Argmax, Inc. ("Argmax", "we"). It turns text into speech on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro. This policy describes what information the Narraloud app and this website handle, who receives it, how long it is kept, and how you can have it deleted.
The short version: your documents stay on your device. Narraloud has no accounts and no sign-in. It does not track you, shows no ads, and never sells your information.
Your documents stay on your device
Narraloud turns text into speech entirely on your device, using voice models that ship inside the app. The documents you import, the text inside them, the audio Narraloud generates, the pages you scan with the camera, and the text Narraloud reads from those pages are never sent to Argmax. The one exception is a document you choose to attach to a feedback message, described below.
What the app collects automatically
Usage information, through Google Firebase Analytics. This records that the app was opened and used, plus a small number of milestones we use to tell whether the app is working: how long it took from installing the app to hearing the first spoken word, whether document enrichment ran or was offered to you, and whether the paywall was shown or closed and whether a purchase or a restore was started. It also records one label saying whether your installation has a Plus subscription ("free" or "plus"). These records contain no document text, no document titles, and no other content from your library. Firebase gives your installation of the app an identifier so these records can be counted without knowing who you are. Narraloud does not use the Apple advertising identifier, does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and contains no advertising.
Crash reports, through Google Firebase Crashlytics. When the app fails, we receive the point in our code where it failed, together with your app version, device model, and operating system version.
Purchase information, through RevenueCat, if you subscribe to Narraloud Plus. This records that a subscription exists and whether it is active, under an anonymous identifier. Apple takes the payment. Neither Argmax nor RevenueCat receives your payment card details.
Configuration, through Google Firebase Remote Config. When the app starts, it asks our configuration service whether there is an announcement to show or an update you should install. This request sends no information about you or your library.
What your device sends to other companies, not to us
If you import a web page or a social media post by pasting a link, your device fetches that page directly from the site that publishes it. That site sees your request in the same way it would if you had opened the link in a browser. Argmax does not see the link.
Feedback you send us
If you use Send Feedback in Settings, we receive the message you write. If you leave the screenshot switch on, we also receive a picture of the screen you were on. If you turn the document switch on, we also receive the document you were listening to and its title, and the web link it came from if you imported it from one. Every feedback message also carries your app version, operating system version, device model, language setting, store environment, an identifier for your installation of the app, and your anonymous subscription identifier, so that we can reproduce the problem you are reporting. Do not attach a document that you do not want us to read.
Camera
Narraloud uses the camera only when you choose to scan a printed page. The pictures it takes and the text it reads from them stay on your device.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers named in this policy, and only so the app can work:
- Google Firebase processes usage information, crash reports, configuration requests, and feedback submissions on our behalf.
- RevenueCat processes purchase information for Narraloud Plus.
- Apple handles all payment for subscriptions and purchases, under its own terms and privacy policy.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
How long we keep information
Usage information in Firebase Analytics is deleted automatically after 14 months. Crash reports in Crashlytics are deleted automatically after 90 days. Feedback messages and their attachments are kept for as long as we need them to act on your report, and are then deleted.
How to have your information deleted
Because Narraloud has no accounts, the only way we can find your information is the installation identifier the app shows you under Settings, then Diagnostics. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email privacy@argmaxinc.com and include that identifier in your message. We will answer within 30 days.
This website
This website is a set of static pages. It runs no scripts, sets no cookies, and uses no analytics. Our hosting provider, Google Firebase Hosting, keeps standard server logs to operate the service.
Children
Narraloud has no accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
