Narraloud

PDF to EPUB converter

Turn a PDF into a reflowable EPUB you can read comfortably on a phone or an e-reader. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with a fast open-source extraction engine, so the document is never uploaded anywhere.

What the converter keeps

Headings, paragraphs, emphasis, and tables are detected from the PDF's real layout and become proper ebook structure, with chapters split on the document's own headings and a generated table of contents. Page numbers, running headers, and fixed layout are left behind, which is the point: an EPUB reflows to fit whatever screen it is read on.

What it is honest about

A PDF that is photographs of pages has no text to extract. The engine detects scanned pages up front and says so instead of producing an empty book. Multi-column layouts and heavy figures convert, but the result deserves a skim before it goes to your library. No converter turns a newspaper spread into a perfect novel, and this one does not pretend otherwise.

Scanned PDF? Your phone can read it anyway.

We build Narraloud, an iPhone and iPad app that reads PDFs, EPUBs, web articles, and scanned pages aloud in natural voices that run entirely on the device. It recognizes scanned text on the device too, so the documents this page must skip are ones Narraloud happily narrates.
